Brief Background
Christy's love of Yoga began in 1994 as a natural turnabout from the world of investment banking to a life of simpler means. From her early career at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC and JP Morgan in New York City, she gradually reoriented her life to teaching Yoga full time beginning 1997.
Her yoga training includes the Advanced Studies 2000 program at Rodney Yee's Piedmont Yoga Studio and two trips to India studying at the Iyengar Institute in Pune. Over a decade of commitment to yoga practice and study has made her practice a mainstay of daily living.
Other formative experiences include her study with teachers Manouso, Ramanand Patel, Abhay Shivanji, Jinsung, and Mary Lou Weprin. She thanks K-Lea Gifford of 12South Yoga and Yoga Journal magazine for the experience she gained teaching for those organizations.
Teaching Description
Christy’s students find her descriptive phrasing, clear yoga demonstration, and contagious enthusiasm uniquely empowers them to source new ability in their body and gain deeper appreciation for yoga. Using traditional healing shapes of Iyengar Yoga as a template, her classes thematically incorporate both healthy action of the body and the wonder of the human experience.

Yoga for Teens experience
She also enjoys teaching Yoga to teenagers. She began the Teens program at Rodney Yee's Piedmont Yoga Studio, volunteered teaching Yoga at Girls, Inc., and was an adjunct professor teaching Yoga for Virginia Wesleyan College. In Nashville, she taught high school Yoga at University School Nashville and Community High School for Teens in Recovery. Currently, she is the resident yoga teacher at the Laguna Beach Crisis Center for Teens, organization committed to re-unifying teens with their families. Additionally, she helps local schools and teen organizations with their yoga programs.
Through her Yoga 4 Teens training intensives, Christy has trained over 100 people to teach yoga to teenagers.
